Behold, New Things Have Come
He Ning
My first contact with Christian faith began in 1999 when I met with my wife Rebecca who is a Christian affiliated with Faith Chinese North American Baptist Church (FCNABC). That was about almost 10 years ago. I remained skeptical and critical for a long time. The turning point was, in my mind, that in 2002 I lost employment during that dot-com economic turmoil, and I wasn’t clear what to do in those dark days. One day I was invited for dinner at Reverend Hong’s home, and I was asked to attend the Church’s Sunday worship on a regular basis and I obliged. Since then I started to participate almost all the activities and events the church organized: Bible study, summer camp, etc. and I have learned a lot about the Christian faith. On November 17, 2007, in a Gospel rally at Evangelical Chinese Bible Church (ECBC), I decided to accept Jesus Christ as my personal savior and become a follower of Christ.
The Christian faith has a huge impact upon my view of many aspect of life. I accept God as the creator of everything including ourselves, and He is the ultimate Truth that should be measured against. We are not only sinners but also hopeless because there is no way to save ourselves from death. Only through God’s grace and the faith in Jesus Christ can we be cleansed and become God’s children to receive eternal life.
Apart of attending Sunday service at Richmond ECBC, I have been reading Bible daily, and just have read through the whole Bible recently. I have been a regular participant of the Bible study fellowship that meets every other week. I also enthusiastically attend the quarterly Christian Faith and Culture seminar hosted by Vancouver Chinese Christian Short Term Mission Training Center, in conjunction with FCNABC. My family and I pray regularly to talk with God. I plan to get baptized on December 21, 2008.
“Therefore if any man is in Christ, he is a new creature; the old things passed away; behold new things have come.” (2 Corinthians 5:17).
